Despite government claims of better security situation in Karachi the overall crime rate is increasing by each passing day. Each year thousands of citizens lose billions of Rupees through car, bike and mobile snatching.
The statistics for the first six months of 2017 are alarming which put a question mark on government claims.

The mobile phones snatched are said to be of more than 80 million and are usually smuggled to Iran & Afghanistan. It was also observed that shops are dealing in such products without any fear because they pay bribe to officials in the area.
To control street crime a Special Investigation Unit was established by police but the statistics prove it be a complete failure. Earlier this year CPLC released statistics of mobile snatching form different areas and identified 60 hot spots in the metropolitan city.

It was recommended that if Police starts better patrolling in these areas then many gangs will be arrested and the crime can be reduced significantly.
