Islamabad: Pakistan Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim has postponed his visit to India that was scheduled to be held this month later, owing to the tensions that have stirred between the two neighbors at LoC and Kashmir. Sources have reported that the delay in the visit is made on the order of the Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf pertaining to the conflict risen between the two countries over the sports and political issues.
The Commerce Minister and the Commerce Secretary were to attend the Partnership Summit that is to be held in Agra from 27-29 of January. They were invited to attend the summit to meet Anand Sharma,Indian Commerce Minister. While briefing media about postponement of his schedule, the minister said that the Summit day clashed with the meeting date that has been given by Minahaj-ul-Quran Head Tahir ul Qadri. He said that the government is to have talking with the Pakistani-Canadian cleric and attending the governmental meeting is more important than a business meeting. Hence we have postponed the visit, said the minister.
On 27 of January an agreement is to be made between the cleric and the government, who demands of the electoral reforms, criticizing the present government leadership.
However, official sources say that the visit has been postponed on the instructions of the Prime Minister due to the political unrest that resulted due to the massive killings of the soldiers from both sides at the disputed territory.
