Mahmood Khan is a PTI leader from Swat who has served as Minister of Agriculture & later as Minister of Sports. This is a brief biography about his personal life and political struggle.
This story is about how he started his political career and become the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Early Life & Education:
Mahmood Khan was born on 31st October 1972 in Matta Devision of Swat. He completed his early education from the area.
It is said that he completed his schooling from Government School of Khwaza Khelah. Then he moved to Peshawar to complete his matriculation and FSC. Then he joined Peshawar University from where he completed his Masters degree in Agriculture.
Political Struggle:
Mahmood Khan started his political career as an independent candidate. He participated in 2008 local elections and was elected as the Union Council Nazim for Kheri. At that time he was not affiliated with any political party.
People expected him to join Pakistan Peoples Party as many from his family were members of the PPP but he chose Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) in 2012.
Parliament & Minister:
In 2013 he was election as a MPA for KPK assembly after which he was appointed as a Minister for Agriculture. He continued to serve for 2 years and then he was appointed as Minister for Sports, Culture & Tourism.
Corruption Scandal:
He faced corruption charges and it was alleged that he deposited funds of Ministry in his personal accounts which he later accepted.
He acknowledged that he deposited Rs. 1.8 million in his personal account but said it was a misunderstanding about the system and was without any bad intention.
Chief Minister of KPK:
In 2018 generals elections he was re-elected as a member of provincial assembly from Constituency PK-9 (Swat-VIII). PTI succeeded in winning majority seats in KPK & National Assembly. Later Imran Khan nominated him for the post of CM.
