Karachi – 9th July, 2014: K-Electric in its press statement has said that the company was proud of be a part of the reconstruction phase of Abbas Town, which sadly came under attack last year when a truck exploded outside 2 apartment blocks. In order to facilitate the residents, K-Electric has provided relief worth almost PKR 14 million.
Giving details the press statement said that KE was eager to play its due role and provide solace and waived off the dues of Abbas Town residents which stood at almost PKR 9 million. Apart from this KE re-installed its electrical network and system, cost-free, which stood at almost PKR 5 million. The overall reconstruction of KE’s network included reinstallation of the meters, pole-mounted transformers (PMTs) as well as cable wires.
The step taken by KE to facilitate the reconstruction of Abbas town is a part of KE’s Emergency Response Initiative of its Social Investment Program (SIP); where KE provides relief to those affected by tragedy in the form of exemptions from electricity dues.
Moreover, KE’s commitment to support strategic institutions is a part of working on humanitarian grounds and community development. Under this program, KE also offers subsidized electricity to welfare organizations in recognition of the noble causes pursued by them.
