Rehman Bhola, the main suspect of Baldia Town factory fire tragedy has confessed that he was behind the fire which killed 257 factory workers. He set the factory ablaze by using chemicals on MQM instruction when the owner refused to pay the extortation money.
Rehman Bhola also confessed killing 14 other people and was behind many extortion cases in the city. It is believed that he did this after orders from Hammad Siddiqui who was Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Karachi Tanzeemi Committe.
MQM had denied any links with the incident while the investigation and suspect have repeatedly said that he did it on party instructions.
Bhola was arrested after Interpol raided a hotel in Bangkok, later FIA team was sent to carry him back to Pakistan. Then on the order of Supreme Court a Joint investigation team (JIT) was formed to complete the investigation which has finally completed its report.
