Karachi: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mahenti has said that the approval of the Bill pertaining to increase perks and privileges of lawmakers of Sindh Assembly was an anti-people step. In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mahenti expressed his deep concerned over the approval of said Bill from the assembly. Condemning the approval of the Bill, Ameer JI Karachi said that those who were remain in assembly for last 5 years did not deliver anything to the masses, but for their own interest approved the Bill pertaining to increase perks and privileges of the legislators.
“It is an eye-open for the people of the Sindh province and they should aware from their friends and foe by the approval of the Bill”, he added. He further said that the masses were facing poverty, inflation and unemployment and the basic facilities including education, health and others have been dried up, however; the lawmakers instead of passing any Bill in the public interest, had passed the Bill for their own interest.
“MQM by staging protest was trying to escape from public reaction while it was supporting elite class”, Mahenti added. He said that the MQM should make announcement that it will not avail the perks and privileges being approved in the Bill.
