Each year farmers in Indian province of Punjab & Haryana burn stubble and residue before starting the new crop which is causing smog not only in Indian capital Delhi but is also affecting Pakistani capital Islamabad and provincial capital Lahore along with other dozens of cities in Pakistani Punjab.
We have imposed a ban on stubble burning in Punjab (Pakistan) & hope @capt_amarinder takes similar measures. Some of our medium/long term action plan to combat SMOG are: https://t.co/xmA4fP3lz8

Recently Government of Pakistan tweeted about the ban of stubble burning in Pakistan hoping Indian government will take similar measures. Chief Minister of Indian Punjab Amarinder Singh was also tagged in the tweet.

CM Amarinder believes that farmers cannot handle the situation except the Indian government supports them financially to dispose the residue in some other way.
