Salt consumption is necessary to maintain a healthy life but increased intake of sodium and low potassium can cause serious health issues and may result in body paralysis and heart attacks.
Sodium, chloride & potassium works as electrolytes and transmit electricity that results in muscle contraction & nerve transmission. But if the balance of sodium, potassium and chloride is disturbed then these functions will be severely affected.
A new study has revealed that too much salt consumption in young age increases the risk of heart attack and paralysis in later stages of life. The required amount of sodium consumption is 6 grams/ per day, and most of the youth today is consuming far greater amount of sodium because of fast food and frozen packaged goods which contain sodium.
The research will be presented in San Francisco’s Pediatric Academic Societies 2017 conference.
