It is an obligation of a wife to take care of her husband but people are confused whether is it also an obligation on husband to take care of her wife or not.
This is based on a misconception that husband is only liable for fulfilling the financial needs of the family, while in reality he is also obliged to take care of his wife and children.
When this question was asked to Sheikh Saalih he said that during pregnancy women becomes weak and exhausted as Allah says in Quran:
[junkie-alert style=”green”] “His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship” [Luqmaan 31:14]. [/junkie-alert]
So if wife is pregnant then it becomes an obligation to take care of his wife. In the same matter if the wife is sick and weak then the husband should also take care of her because it is her life partner.
Prophet (PBUH) asked Muslims not to burden their slaves then how can a man burden his wife in a time when she expects her care and support?
