Wedding season is at its peak in Karachi but people are confused while booking shadi halls because they don’t know how to check the legal status of marriage halls in the city.
Last year Karachi Development Authority (KDA) started an operation against land grabber & illegal marriage lawns, during the operation dozens of illegal shadi halls were demolished using heavy machinery.
Illegal wedding halls and banquets were demolished in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Nazimabad, North Karachi & Saddar Town.
Wedding season on peak in all over Pakistan and Here are some 5 Tips for those are going to manage wedding event.
1: Must check legal status of Shadi Hall.

At the start of the year DG KDA Samiuddin Siddiqui told media that majority of the halls are illegal. He said out of 476 marriage lawns only 6 were properly registered.
When AwamiWeb contacted KDA Director Estate & Enforcement, Mr. Raza Muhammad Kaim Khani, he said that currently the list of registered and legal shadi halls is not released because records of different departments are being reconciled.

Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) also released the criteria for legal marriage halls. Now only those marriage halls will be registered and considered legal which:
- Cover an area of 2000 sq yards
- Located on 50 ft wide road
- Is a commercial plot
Shadi halls which were built on welfare or residential plots were instructed to cease their operations until they change their plot to commercial category.
Not providing list of legal shadi halls is causing problems for common citizens. KDA should follow the footsteps of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) which has released the list of legal & registered marriage halls on their official website.
LDA also updates the list through which citizens can easily check the legal status of any wedding hall before booking their event.
