Foreign Minister of Pakistan held a bilateral meeting with her Afghan counterpart Dr. Zalmai Rassoul on the sidelines of the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Foreign Minister expressed her deepest condolences and sympathies on the assassination of Prof. Burhanuddin Rabbani. She emphasized that peace and stability in Afghanistan was vital for stability and prosperity of Pakistan. She added that the destinies of the two neighbors were intertwined and both should jointly fight against those elements which were working against the interest of the two countries and the region at large.
The two Foreign Ministers agreed to work closely for peace and stability in the region and for the welfare and prosperity of their people. Meanwhile Hina Rabbani Khar Pakistan held bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Brazil, Guinea and Central African Republic.
During the meetings, the Foreign Minister discussed ways to enhance political, diplomatic and economic relations with these countries and to increase mutual visits by the business communities. They also exchanged views on enhancing political and diplomatic cooperation at all international fora including at the United Nations. (SANA)
