Colombo: Pakistan beat Australia in their third match of the super eight stage by 32 runs on Tuesday in ICC World Twenty20. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Pakistani openers once again failed to spend much time in the middle and both the openers went back to the dressing room in the power play limitations. Nasir Jamshed played a vital and sensible innings of 55 runs which helped Pakistan to post a competitive total of 149 runs.
In response, two dangerous openers of Australia Watson and Warner went back to the dressing room earlier which was a big loss for the yellow shirts. The Pakistani captain continued the innings with the spin attack up to the 18th over for the first time in the tournament. The move worked for the captain and Australians remained under pressure against the quality spin attack of Pakistan and kept on losing wickets. Saeed Ajmal remained the prominent bowler by picking up 3 wickets in his four overs. Miachel Hussey scored 54 runs and remained not out till the end and take Australia to 112 runs which was reuired so that Australia will quailfiy for sem-finals.
Pakistan, with this sensational victory has made its place in the semi final. Pakistan will face the Sri Lankan cricket team in first semi-final on Thursday at 6:30 PM PST.
