Islamabad: Federal Government has announced to reduce petrol prices from 1st February 2016. According to the reports, petrol will be available at Rs.71.25 after this reduction, while high speed diesel will be available at Rs.75.79. Similarly, High Octane will be available at Rs.75.66, kerosene and light diesel will be available at Rs.43.23 and 39.94 respectively, from 1st February 2016. Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar has said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved to reduce Rs.5 in all the petroleum products price.
Minister of Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the petroleum product prices are lowest in Pakistan as compared to region.
While talking to the media in Lahore, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif said that the government is continuously giving relief to the public. He said that the current situation of the country is much better than it was in 2013 and economical condition of Pakistan is being watched on the international level positively. Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan is much peaceful and better than the past.
PM said that the industry is gradually growing and load shedding has been reduced in the past few months.
Nawaz Sharif said that the foreign reserves of Pakistan has been increased to more than 21 billion dollars. Prime Minister also said that the government is trying its best to control inflation and inflation rate is reduced to 2%. He said that when the current government taken its charge, financial condition of Pakistan was worst.
On the other end, opposition parties including PPP and PTI have totally rejected the reduction of petroleum prices by the government and called it a joke with the public. PTI spokesperson Naeem ul Haq has said that OGRA has suggested the government to reduce petrol prices up to 21%, but the government has rejected its suggestion and reduced just 5 rupees.
Senator of Pakistan Peoples Party Saleem Mandviwala has said that that the government is earning Rs. 40 per liter in the petrol price. He asked the government to give relief of reduction of petrol prices in international market to the public.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has also postponed privatization of Pakistan International Airline for 6 months. In a press conference along with the union leaders of PIA, Senator Mushahidullah Khan said that the government will ensure all the employees of PIA that they will not be sacked by the private administration. He also said that the government will take decision in a larger interest of the country and employees in this regards
