General Raheel Sharif is the most popular Army Chief of Pakistan, who is serving as four-star rank, 15th Chief of Army Staff. Raheel Sharif was born on 16th of June, 1956 in Quetta, Balochistan and got his early education from Lahore. After getting his early education from Government College Lahore, General Raheel Sharif attended 54th-long course (L/C) of Pakistan Military Academy. In 1976, Raheel Sharif was commissioned into the 6th Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment, after passing out from 54th-long course. After this, Raheel Sharif joined an infantry brigade in Gilgit and commanded two infantry brigades as a brigadier.
Raheel Sharif was appointed as Military Secretary by Chief of Army Staff of that time, General Pervez Musharraf in 2002. Due to his skills and dedication, Raheel Sharif then assigned command of 11th Infantry Division in Lahore by General Pervez Musharraf. Raheel Sharif also posted as Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, after commanding the 11th Infantry Division for more than 2 years. He then promoted as Lieutenant General and in November 2013, become Army Chief of Pakistan.
Raheel Sharif belongs to Rajput family of Punjab, having roots in Gujrat. His father (late) Major Rana Muhammad Sharif had also served Pakistan Army and his elder brother Major Shabbir Sharif is martyr of Indo-Pak 1971 war. After starting war on terror in Pakistan with the title “Zarb e Azb”, Raheel Sharif has become most popular Army Chief of Pakistan. His policies to break terrorism roots in Pakistan and good strategy is making Pakistan peaceful country gradually.
