Prices of fruits and other goods increased with the start of Ramazan which forced the social media users to call for a three day boycott of fruits starting from today 2nd June till 4th June 2017.
Initially the boycott call was for Karachi only but soon citizens of other major cities such as Peshawar, Hyderabad & Bahawalpur joined the boycott on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The message was widely circulated on WhatsApp, Facebook & Twitter.

Mainstream media also supported the call by widely circulating the message through hourly reporting. Transport Minister Nasir Shah, Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed Khan and other political personalities also supported the call.
Some social media users criticized the move saying that this will only affect the poor fruit vendor while the real profiteer usually the middle men will not be affected by the boycott.

Others said that the root cause of the problem is government which failed to fulfill its role by increasing the supply or taking action against mafia to reduce the price hike.
Sorry no support #FruitBoycott – I'm more concerned to poor fruit sellers; get no extra margin and earn on daily wage to run their kitchen.
