Overweight children will have fewer friends, will perform worse than average students and are at higher risk of being depressed than other students, reveals a new study.
Children who are fat will face more bullying in school which will result in there detachment from class fellows. They will avoid going to school and will dislike being among their class fellows.
The study was conducted by a team of researchers from University of South California and it was based on observation of 504 children aging under 12.
They found that overweight children were more dislike by other children, and less people listed them as their friends.
Regarding bullying and fun-making Kayla de la Haye, the lead author said ‘Those adverse interactions increase the risk of loneliness, depression, poor eating habits and illness.’
The rising trend of obesity in children will not affect them during their school life but will also haunt them in later stages of their life.
