Capital Development Authority (CDA) will be launching electric powered buses for the internal commuting, in the near future. According to CDA officers, electric buses may be run on six distinct public routes. The department may even offer space for charging stations for the buses.
CDA will open the bid offer for bus consultancy on 12th October. The first group of electric buses will arrive at Islamabad in December end. There will be three base stations for e-buses by CDA.
CDA has been keeping this aim to release e-buses for the past few years. The branch also started trying out these buses inside the twin cities some days in the past. Current indications indicate that those plans may soon see a concrete follow-up.
Route Extension Plan
CDA is getting ready to release thirteen new bus routes in two levels. According to CDA Chairman, Capt. (Retd.) Usman Younis, the primary section will see the availability of delivery on six congested routes. Moreover, in the second phase, the management will purchase buses for seven extra routes.
Younis additionally stated that CDA may also begin a route from Faizabad to Pir Wadhai as soon as the IJP avenue is finished. He stated that PIMS would serve as the center for the brand-new routes, connecting the service to Metro buses on the Red Line and Orange Line.
In the meantime, CDA is creating tender documents for various contractors and assessing the viability of all routes. According to the department, its goal is to lessen people’s dependency on private vehicles in order to cut fuel consumption and protect the environment.
