DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that army is a national institution in which every Pakistani can serve irrespective of his or her religion.
It was in response of the statement that Captain Safdar made in assembly proposing that people serving in army and other institutions should be asked to give declaration & oath regarding the final prophethood of Muhammad (Pbuh).
“When we put on the uniform we are a Pakistani soldier only, irrespective of our religion, irrespective of our province and irrespective of our clan,” said DG ISPR.
He said that Ahmadis (qadiyani) are also serving in the army just like other minorities Sikh & Hindu. He said there is a lawmaking body if it brings such law then it should be discussed.
During his speech in assembly Captain Safdar demanded a ban on qadiyanis in military which started a debate on their legal rights. Law Minister of Punjab Rana Sanaullah in a controversial interview called them Muslims going against the second amendment.
