The government has decided to outsource Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore airports.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed to outsource the three airports under public-private partnership.
During the briefing in the meeting on aviation and PIA issues, it was informed that outsourcing of airports around the world is a normal and profitable process, initially Jinnah International and Islamabad Airport will be outsourced.
In the meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided to hire international operators with international reputation. In the first phase, the three airports of the country will be operated by international operators.
International operators will provide support in running the airports of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, for a period of 20 to 25 years.
