It would not be an understatement to say that the human race’s survival and advancement is dependent upon the reserves of natural gas and oil which serve as the primary source of energy in many industrial and non industrial applications. The Dawn group realises the importance of this and has organised an oil and gas conference scheduled to start on the 25th of June in Islamabad.
Pakistan is currently undergoing an energy crisis and most of our import bill is spent upon oil which we import. As the current oil and gas reserves become exhausted an imminent shortage in natural gas could also cripple the nations economy.
Dawn’s initiative is a welcome one at this time. The oil and gas conference will bring together the stakeholders and leading thinkers related to this field in Pakistan on a single platform to discuss and highlight the key challenges faced by the nations oil and gas sectors.
The main topics under discussion will be the opportunities present in the oil and gas sector, the possible policy reforms that can be undertaken. The potential of the shale gas revolution will also be discussed with respect to Pakistan and the different offshore exploration techniques. Coal gasification and the importance of LPG and LNG will also be on the agenda.
