Lahore: Custom Officials has stopped the smuggling of Donkey hides. According to media reports Custom officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore foiled an attempt to smuggle around 500 hides of donkey. These hides were smuggled in the name of other animals.
Custom officials have said that investigation has been started against the company which was exporting these hides and soon main culprits will be caught. In May 2015 Federal Revenue Board (FBR) was asked to impaose ban on export of donkey hides by Pakistan Model Customs Collectorate of Exports.

Customs Collectorate revealed at that time that around 83,475 donkey hides have been exported in one and half year. In September 2015 Government banned export of donkey hides.

In 2015 custom officials in Karachi successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle around 1200 donkey hides and 2,500kg of goat hair to Hong Kong. In recent years many cases of donkey hides smuggling have been reported.
