Dr. Jonathan said that the two most common mistakes during brushing your teeth are how much time you should give and how hard you should brush.
- People usually think that brushing hard will remove the plaque and will make your teeth clean. He said it’s a misconception, teeth do not need hard brushing but it needs care and proper brushing technique.
- Another mistake is people don’t brush for two minutes. On average people brush for 37 seconds which is far less time than required. If you don’t brush for the required time then the toothpaste’s benefits will not be acquired.
There are other common mistakes such as some people don’t use correct brush. You should choose your tooth brush considering your mouth size. Not using dental floss will also affect your teeth because there are areas where brush cannot reach, and that’s where bacteria found refugee thriving on food bits.
It is also necessary to clean your tongue after brush to prevent bad breath and remove the bacteria.
