26 aged Burak Karan; an eminent German footballer died in the Syrian civil war. The news created disparity in the country. The young man became victim of the bomb attack allegedly planned by the Syrian government. He was targeted near the Turkish border, in town of Azaz.
Buraq had been practicing football for couple of years, playing with shining football players including Schalke 04’s Kevin Prince Boateng and Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira. But, he had left playing the game for the sake of Jihad.
The young man had earned much money and fame through is passion for the game. At an early stage, he had played in Germany’s Bundesliga clubs, Hamburg and Hannover 96. He had also made his way to the national team.
These materialistic gains did not please Burak and he looked forward to attaining something divine. His brother Mustafa, talking with media said, ‘Money and career were not important to him’. Buraq, Turkish In origin lived in north western Germany in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia.
One of the coach men of Buraq at Hannover 96 said that he was pious young man. He was strict about offering prayers on time. Gradually, he began to get more concerned over the religious beliefs after the Syria revolution broke out.

His brother states him to be a man of good personality and uninvolved in terrorist activities. But a video showing the ‘martyred’ young men, holding rifle with long beard has opened up investigations regarding the case. It is likely that he has joined armed groups against Syrian government & claim to work for the savior of Syrian people.
