Another Gift For Pakistan From Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia and PakistanIslamabad: Saudi Arabia and Pakistan’s love has been increasing day by day, as half billion dollars was also gifted to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia and now 2 million kg of high quality dates has given to the friendly country Pakistan.

According to an official release, the deputy head of mission Saudi Arabia Embassy in Islamabad Jassim Mohammad Khalid Al-Khaldi formally handed over the delivery of 2 million kg dates on behalf of the Kingdom to the Cabinet Division. Senior officials of the Foreign Office were also present at the time.

Previously, Pakistan had required Riyadh’s help to shore up its foreign exchange funds and meet debt-service responsibilities and undertake large energy and infrastructure projects, Pakistani officials told Reuters. As last month, it was revealed that the Kingdom had lent $1.5 billion to Pakistan to share up its reserves.

Director General ERC Captain Muhammad Aftab thanked Al-Khalidi on behalf of the government for the dates and expressed thankfulness for the great gesture of friendship. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have sought to develop extensive commercial, cultural, religious, political, and strategic relations since the establishment of Pakistan in 1947.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif enjoys exceptionally close ties with senior members of the Saudi royal family. Pakistan Today reported that Pakistan will return Saudi favor with the sale of JF-17 Thunder jets. Arabia is often seen offering its economic resources and the promise of investment in return for military and security cooperation from Pakistan.
