WASHINGTON: A US magazine “Foreign Policy” has revealed in its report on the subject of “Washington Doesn’t Help Democracy In Pakistan” that the visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to America will be less helpful in order to strengthen democracy in Pakistan.
According to a private news channel, the report has further detailed that most of US interests in Pakistan are related to security, adding that America needs to talk to Pakistan’s military officials very often for security issues.
The report urges that there should not be expectation of important results from the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and US President Barack Obama. This is the reason that anti-terrorism cooperation, nuclear security and Afghanistan Peace Process with Taliban are included in the important agenda and these are the issues on which only military takes the final decision.
It is pertinent to mention here that after the meeting of Nawaz Sharif and Obama, another meeting between General Raheel Sharif and the US president Obama is going to b held next month. According to the magazine, USA should help strengthen the civilian institutions like parliament and police in Pakistan.
It added that democracy in Pakistan is still incomplete. The US government gave 40 crore dollars aid to Pakistan from 2009 to 2014 for democracy and governance as well as helping recently for parliamentary services.
