KARACHI: All-rounder Shahid Afridi will join the team later on for the world t-20 due to an injury caused in the Asia cup. The team management had been informed by a source in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that Afridi will not join the team which is going to depart for Bangladesh on Thursday night.
According to some sources the all rounder will not be taken with the team as he has to clear some fitness tests that will be given by medical panel. Afridi led Pakistani team to victory against India and Bangladesh in Asia cup but unfortunately he sustained injury in the match against Bangladesh.
“Shahid Afridi was very important for the last matches, so we gave him painkillers to survive in the ground”, said Zaheer Abbas the consultant of cricket team. He also added that Afridi from the day he played with India was unfit.
The source also said that trainer had advised Afridi not to run or have further training due to his injury. But being a senior player whose presence is important for the team, he would join team later.
