Fawad Alam, is an emerging player of the Pakistani cricket team, who became the first Pakistani middle-order left handed batsman to score 100 in a one day international match. Fawad Alam is Karachi born left hand all rounder, who played his debut match in Sri Lanka in 2007. But after a few occasional good knocks he couldn’t reproduce the performance he has been displaying over the past several years in the domestic circuit.
Fawad’s fortune came to a twist when at the Asia Cup, he was called to represent Pakistan in the national team. But this time he tried his best and produced a marvellous innings of 74 runs against Bangladesh which was a major contribution in the victory of Pakistan. In the final match he again outshined and stood up to the expectations of the team to play a steady innings when Pakistan was 3 down early in the innings.
Fawad came into bat against a new ball and provided an unbeaten knock of 114 runs, which included 3 sixes and 8 boundaries. Unknown to him, like many, he meanwhile became the first middle order left hand batsman of Pakistan to score a century in the ODI. Fawad stated that he came to know about it from someone else on his return to Pakistan and felt honoured on this achievement.
Fawad revealed that he was unaware of that he is the first Pakistan middle-order left-hander to score a one-day hundred. “I only came to know about it from someone when I returned home. Of course, I feel honoured to have achieved something no other Pakistani middle-order batsman did in the past.”
