This week’s A & AS level results were a rude awakening for the students. The historically low grades crushed many students and pushed them to stage protests. Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has decided to arrange a re-sit examination in October 2023.
Exams on May 9th and 12th were canceled because of political tensions, which resulted in surprising grades. Students and parents asked for the canceled exams to be rescheduled to fix their grades.
The decision to allow retaking of the exams is geared towards alleviating the worries of students and parents caught off guard by the unexpected results in the A and AS-level exams for the year 2023.
A meeting took place at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) to develop a strategy to fix the problems in the recent exam score.
Uzma Yousaf, the Country Director of CAIE, Maria Rehman, the Director of the British Council, and other education leaders attended the meeting.
How Will It Work?
Cambridge will eliminate the charges for the retake examinations. The British Council will manage the logistical aspects at a lower expense. Cambridge assessment grades will be individually reviewed and re-evaluated where notable differences exist between school-assessed and CAIE grades.
Schools will cover 80 percent of the expenses when requesting re-evaluation and reassessment, while parents will handle the remaining 20 percent. If these reviews lead to grade changes, the full fee will be returned.
Furthermore, the Ministry will work with respected university Vice Chancellors to guarantee adaptable admissions and collaborate with provincial governments to apply comparable actions.
A system to address complaints will be set up within the Private Institution Education Regulatory Authority (PIERA) at the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training. This system will oversee unresolved concerns and issues.
