Constitutional body of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Council of Islamic Ideology has raised questions of Islamic democracy. 200th meeting of Council of Islamic Ideology held in Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani. In this 2 days meeting, member of the council have discussed system implemented in the country. Maulana Sheerani said that Islam and democracy cannot go together and there is a space in the political system of Pakistan. He said that people asked for votes on the name of socialism, nationalism and religion in Pakistan, how the gap will be filled in this situation.
Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani said that elections under the supervision of election commission cannot fill this gap He said that covering hands and feet for women is Mustahib in Islam, not compulsory but it would be compulsory if they feel fear in the society. Chairman Maulana Sheerani also said that we have asked for separate education for boys and girls and co-education is not compulsory at all. He also added that after the orders of honorable courts, Council of Islamic Ideology has changed its affairs into Urdu language.
People on social media are praising the questions of Council of Islamic Ideology on democracy and Islam, and asked the authorities to implement real Islamic system in the country.
It is to be noted that Council of Islamic Ideology had also raised some serious issues of the society but some liberal elements of Pakistan have criticized the council for raising issues.
