PESHAWAR: Two police constables were killed and 6 others including Deputy Commandant were injured in a suicide attack in Peshawar today when a suicide attacker targeted the vehicle of Deputy Commandant Frontier Reserve Police (FRP). According to Senior Superintendant of Police (SSP) operations Mian Saeed, the incident took place in Hayatabad Phase 5 where the vehicle of Deputy Commandant Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Malik Tariq was targeted by a suicide attacker. Two police constables lost their lives in the attack whereas 6 others including Malik Tariq were injured.
The injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex Hospital whereas sources told that the condition of Malik Tariq was critical. According to hospital sources, the injured included Deputy Commandant FRP Malik Tariq, 3 police constable and 2 passersby. According to security officials, the suicide attacker hit his motorbike with the vehicle and resultantly, the vehicle was destroyed completely.
On the other hand, the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility of the attack on Deputy Commandant FRP Malik Tariq in Hayatabad. Spokesperson of TTP Muhammad Khurasani in a statement claimed the responsibility however; no confirmation of the claim could be made by free sources.
