Biometric machines have been installed at the police stations in Punjab to allow them to check the whereabouts of people not possessing their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) within no time. These machines will track people having suspicious credentials quickly, while also saving the law abiding citizens from the hassle of proving their identity in the police stations.
The Government of Punjab had already purchased 1000 machines through the Punjab Information Technology Board, which were being tested at the Gaddafi Stadium hosting the Pakistan-Zimbabwe matches these days for their reliability and accuracy. All the police stations will be equipped with these machines that will be used at pickets and combing operations.
These machines will be connected to the NADRA network allowing these people to place their thumbs on the machine and verifying their identity in case they do not possess their CNICs at the time of checking. Those who will have their credentials registered at NADRA will be identified by the machine, saving them from any further trouble. The police will be trained to use these machines and then the entire system will be handed over to the police stations.[junkie-alert style=”white”] The biometric machines will help teh police to identify the suspicious citizens quickly while also saving teh law abiding citizens from harrassment [/junkie-alert]
According to the police officials, these machines will protect the law abiding citizens from the harsh behavior of the police officials, who use inappropriate methods to determine who is innocent and who is not. In many cases, the innocent have to bear the brunt of an unlawful judicial system. This will upgrade the system of identification of citizens and will provide more accuracy and speed.
The officials were so far satisfied with the performance of the machine, which was currently being tested at the Gaddafi Stadium. In the meantime, a committee had been formed by the chief minister to revise the law pertaining to the regulation of marriage functions.
The new law had originally been drafted to make the violations of the restrictions on marriage functions cognizable by the police. The draft made it necessary to nominate officials for leading the police so that they could not harass anyone. It would be the DCOs responsibility to nominate an official. The marriage functions were allowed to have more than one dish as the caterers, owners of the marriage halls and meat sellers opposed the restriction on food being served at these weddings.
