Islamabad: Council of Islamic Ideology by permissible marriage (Nikkah) at early age said that the consummation of marriage (Rukhsati) is allowed when both the husband and wife reaches at the age of adult. It has decided that when the boy and girl both become mature, they should have the right to unknot from the relation of underage marriage which was decided by his or her parents if they desire so. It has also declared that permission from the Council for a second marriage is un-Islamic.
The meeting was held under the supervision of CII Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani and was attended by the members of council. The council recommended the deduction of a clause in the Child Marriages Restriction Act 1929 as they believe that the today children are quite aware and mature in order to take a decision about their marital life. At the end of a two-day meeting of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) during press briefing Muhammad Khan Sheerani said that the main points had been discussed in the meeting which was remained in the last meeting.
Chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani told that the matter of marriage and divorce of Christian and Indian had greatly focused in the meeting as both committee’s members had been called in this regard. Muhammad Khan Sheerani further told that Dr. Ramesh represented the Hindus while MNA Aasia Nasir represented to Christian community in this matter and also some advised had been given at which bill has been called from the Ministry of Law and National Assembly.
In the meeting the council members debated on various historic references and ideologies related to marriage. Maulana Sheerani, Nikah Registrar also demanded the government that the fee for registration of Nikahnama should also be stopped.
