Saudi Arabia has already started implementing the third step of banning men from selling female accessories or other related items to them. The shops selling female cosmetics, perfumes, clothes and mother care products will be the first to come under this new act. The ministry’s main target is to ensure that female related accessories and clothing will only be sold by women in all the stores by 2016.
According to a local newspaper, the ministry will restrict the shop owners from hiring men and women at the same time and will apply strict timings for the female employees, which means that the shop owners will not be allowed to have the female employees report on duty before 9AM and leave their stores after 11PM. Stores with more than two female employees will be supervised by a female manager only or supervisor.
The stores denying to follow the jurisdiction will be labelled as part of the ‘Nitaqat’ zone. The shop owners will not be allowed to hire expatriate women at these stores. Those violating this law will be fined SR 3000 to SR 10,000 for each non-Saudi female employee. The shop owners will also not be allowed to get visas or renew visas for their female employees.
