Scientists from Pakistan and US have received the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Award for World Cooperation in Beijing for their contribution to systematic collaboration between CAS and the rest of the globe.
Dr. Atta-ur Rahman of the KU known as University of Karachi in Pakistan and Professor Xiao-Fan Wang of Duke Varsity in USA were designated, respectively, by the Institute of CAS and the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences of CAS.
Launched by the academy in 2007, the award respects foreign scientists for their offerings to Sino-foreign study collaboration. The prize is awarded yearly by CAS.
Born in 1942, Professor Rahman is an organic chemist and scholar in Pakistan. He is famous for his research related to regular chemistry. Professor Rahman has made assistances to endorsing teamwork between China and Pakistan.

Professor Rahman also started a joint-supervision programme for Ph.D. Scholars . As a consequence, about four hundred Pakistani scholars are conducting their doctoral studies in China.
