An open fire by an Egyptian coast guard on a ship that carried Syrian refugees flying to Italy resulted in killing of two. Those caught by the Egyptian corps, are now held in the detention center of Alexandria, where the victims face unprecedented tortures and tough time.
The refugees when interviewed narrated the incident stating that it happened at the coast. The ship was to cross the coast when an Egyptian coastal guard demanded the boat to turn around. The captain of the boat, an Egyptian didn’t follow the command. Hence, the guard fired. A man and woman, two of the refugees died of the bullets. The witnesses say that thrice the woman was shot.
However, the statement of Egyptian official says that the gun was fired in the air and accidentally it hit the victim.
The ship included Palestinians majorly who had fled to Syria. The Palestinian consulate in Alexandria is working to secure the people who have been detained. While Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist Sunni organization demanded the culprits to be brought to justice who led to such an incident to happen.
United Nations estimates around 4,600 Syrians to be successful in flying to Italy through the coast. Two thirds of the number are said to have gone the last August. Approximately it takes two weeks for people to move from Egypt to Italy through the coast. However, these people failed to make a narrow escape.
