Islamabad: David Beckham, former England footballer awarded the Pakistani education crusader, Malala Yousufzai, the ‘Pride of Britain’ award. The UNICEF ambassador, David being impressed with the young 16 year old girl’s bravery presented the award to her.
On presenting the award by the distinguished figure, Malala expressed pleasure. Difference in the heights of two was something Malala giggled about. The school girl talked to David about his role as an ambassador and they shared conversation.
Malala was shot by the terrorist Taliban group, while she travelled in a school van in Swat, last year in the month of October. She received bullets in her head. However, the bullet was taken out through several operations and treatment.
She has had received several awards, spoke at various international conferences and given interviews, speeches that direct her stance. This month it is likely that she would also earn the ‘Noble Prize Award’ and would appear as the youngest receiver of the prestigious award.
