Islamabad: The Former Chairman of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Tauqeer Sadiq, has been arrested in Dubai on Tuesday. The former Chairman of OGRA was wanted for the last few months in charge of millionaire corruption case.
The brother in law of the Pakistan People’s Party secretary General Jahangir Badar, Tauqeer Sadiq was accused of Rs 80 billion causing huge loss to Pakistan’s cause. Sadiq was appointed by the Ex Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in 2008. He escaped to Dubai last year in October but now with help of Interpol he is arrested and will be sent to Pakistan soon.
According to NAB (National Accountability Bureau) investigation, hand of FIA authorities and Jahangir Badar helped him to escape from Pakistan. The accused is reported to have converted the operating income of two public utilities, the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline and Sui Southern gas Company, into non-operating income, resulting in Rs 3 billion extra burden over consumers and increasing the surcharge.
