Islamabad: As many as 58 TV channel owners have received notices from the Supreme Court over charges of distribution of money and plots by former Chairman Bahria town Riaz Malik to them and other journalists. The notices were sent during hearing of a petition filed by journalists against corruption by several colleagues. Two member bench comprising of Justice Arif Hussain and Justice Jawad S Khawaja heard the petitions filed by journalists Absar Alim, Hamid Mir and few others.
Zahid Bokhari, the advocate for Bahria Town refuted the claims and told the court that Malik Riaz had never given any plot or money to any journalist and such allegations are a bunch of lies. No amount through Bahria Town Pad or Check was ever distributed.
In reply, Hamid Mir argued that if this is untrue than the court should look for PTA record and see who issued the list of journalists on the internet.
Hamid Mir said that he is a professional journalist and he has not filed a petition in enmity against anyone and the journalists from rival Dunya news are also present with him. He clarified that he has no difference with anyone.
