Islamabad: The 57th Birthday of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari is being celebrated today with much simplicity and austerity. The reason behind the simple celebrations is the month of Ramazan due to which no grand celebrations could be observed.
President Zardari was born today back in 1955 in Karachi and belongs to the Sindhi-Baloch Zardari tribe. He is the only son of late Zarrin Zardari and Hakim Ali Zardari who was a tribal chief and prominent landowner.
He jumped into politics in 1983 but lost the initial elections for a district council seat in Nawabshah. His first political detainment came on 10th October 1990 on extortion and kidnapping charges. While in jail, he was elected to the National Assembly for the first time.
Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Zardari became President on 6th September 2008 when he won a majority in the Electoral College with 481 of 702 votes against PML-N candidate former justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui and PML-Q Mushahid Hussain Syed.
