Karachi: Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, also known as Raja Rental, worked for four years as a foreman in country’s shoe making company Bata (Lahore) at a salary package of Rs.3000 which was believed to be quite a heavy sum way back in the early 70s, Bata Lahore region manager HR Tanveer Khan told local Urdu newspaper.
According to the details, it is stated in the records regarding his service in Lahore HR that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, son of Sangar Khan, worked as an employ in popular shoe manufacturing company from 1971 to 28th December 1974 as a foreman.
Abdul Qayum, who was a colleague of Raja in Bata, retired long ago, also verified this news and told that during this work Raja Parvaiz Ashraf lived in Bachelor quarter Batapur Colony along with two or three other co-workers.
Another colleague of him, who was retired four years ago, told on the condition of anonymity that at that time, the salary of a foreman was about Rs.3000 which was considered a huge amount though Bata being a well-established company then, also offered allowances to its workers.
The residents of Chuk 11 also told with dishearten that the actual birth place of PM Ashraf is this same village of Sanghar which is not yet visited by him as the locals here expected from him when he became the Prime Minister and visited Karachi.
