The 3rd Islamabad Literature Festival is all set to begin from 24th April 2015. This is an awaited event which will be held on the 24th, 25th and 26th of April 2015 at Hotel Margala, Islamabad. The festival is free for all and anyone with the passion for literature can attend this event. The festival invites co-sponsors as well and those who are interested can contact the relevant persons. Various established and renowned authors and literary masters will attend the event and will share their valuable thoughts with the audience.
The event will include talks, interviews, panel discussions, readings, book launches, mushaira, author signings, performing arts, book fair, satire, theatre and much more. ILF is directed by Ameena Saiyid, co-founded by Ameena Saiyid and Asif Farrukhi. It has been produced by Oxford University Press. The ILF will include the following key features:
- A keynote address by Intizar Hussain, a finalist for the 2013 Man Booker Prize, who Nadeem Aslam described as being “the greatest living writer on earth.
- The actor, director, educator, and cultural leading light, Zia Mohyeddin, will deliver the closing keynote address.
- A keynote speech will also be delivered by one of Granta’s Best of Young British novelists of 2013, Pakistan’s own Kamila Shamsie.
- Abdullah Hussain, Zehra Nigah and many others will also give their speeches.
- M Naqvi and Irshad Abdul Kadir will share advice and insights in a session on how to write a novel.
- Literature in languages such as Pushto, Punjabi, Urdu, and Pakistani English will be discussed and celebrated.
- Nimra Bucha will conclude the Festival with her critically acclaimed performance of Mohammed Hanif’s play, “The Dictator’s Wife.”
