The Government of Pakistan has decided to issue 10 Rupees coin first time in the history of Pakistan. According to a report published in leading Pakistani newspaper, the government has decided to issue new coins of 10 and 5 rupees. Design of 5 rupees new coin will remain the same as the current one but its size would be half than it and the colour of that new coin would be golden. According to the sources of State Bank, Pakistan Mint has made 5 rupee coins and are sending to the State Bank of Pakistan, which will be issued very soon.
On the other hand, the design of 10 rupees coin is under development and will be issued first time in the history of Pakistan. State Bank of Pakistan has not announced the exact date and month of issuance of both the new coins. Currently, 1, 2 and 5 rupees coins are used in Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan had issued 5 rupees coin for the first time in 2005.
It seems that the Government has taken this step due to decreasing value of Pakistani rupee in the market and inflation in the country may be also a major reason behind this step.
