Jeddah: A “camel club”, the first of its kind in the world has been planned in Saudi Arabia just for the camel lovers and owners who care, race and “love” the animals, foreign media reported this week. The club has been intended to raise awareness about the country’s 900,000 camels.
The club is planned to launch soon in order to create consciousness among the Saudi people and other camel lovers about animal’s peculiarities, nutritional habits, and their endurance tactics in the Arabian deserts. ‘It will help those whoe love camels,’ Club founder Homoud al-Qahtani said.
“We want to provide an appropriate platform to those who adore camels and want to be acquainted about the different classes and their diverse colors,” he told.
“Camel racing and rearing are big hobbies in the Kingdom … through this new set up all camel lovers will gather at one place and will help organizing joint activities,” he added. However, the report did not clearly state when the club is set to be established.
