Karachi: Aziz Tabba Kidney Centre, a not-for-profit, tertiary care referral centre for kidney diseases, organized a free kidney diseases screening camp on Thursday, March 13, 2014 to celebrate the World Kidney Day. Aware of its social responsibilities, Aziz Tabba Centre has been organizing such camps regularly for the last six years.
This year over 450 patients were screened for high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, chronic kidney disease and obesity. The screening was done based on the guidelines of the Internal Society of Nephrology for such screening in developing countries. Two public awareness sessions were also held at 10:30 am and then 12:30 pm. Both the sessions were very well participated and the attendees showed great interest and were full of queries for the panelists.
Dr. Bilal Jamil, Medical Director and Consultant Nephrologist and Dr. Adnan Munir consultant Urologist of the centre spoke about kidney disease, leading to its failure and how to protect them.
