
The cat is finally out of the bag! We have a caretaker Prime Minister! Baluchistan Awami Party’s Anwarul Haq Kakar is the interim Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The Baluchistan Awami Party, with its roots firmly established in the political fabric of the region, has put forward Anwarul Haq Kakar as a representative of their ideals and vision.
His selection as the caretaker Prime Minister underlines the party’s commitment to actively contributing to the nation’s governance and progress.
So, Who is Anwarul Haq Kakar?
Anwarul Haq Kakar became an independent senator from Baluchistan in 2018. This accomplishment secured his role for a six-year term, which is set to continue until March 2024.
He chairs the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. He also participated in several other important committees, including the Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and Science and Technology Committee.
He is also the leader of the Baluchistan Awami Party in the Senate. Over five years, Kakar effectively fulfilled this leadership role. However, the party transitioned to new leadership five months ago, leading to his replacement.
From December 2015 to January 2018, he also played the role of spokesperson for the government of Baluchistan. This meant that he communicated on behalf of the government, sharing its positions and messages with the public.
According to information from the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR), an Islamabad-based institute focusing on research, Kakar earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Baluchistan. His field of study was political science and sociology.
The CSCR also highlighted Kakar’s proficiency in several languages, including English, Urdu, Persian, Pushto, Balochi, and Brahvi.
