Karachi: It has been decided in the Karachi to continue targeted operations and to give free hand to the security agencies. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said social media applications like Viber, Tango and Whatsapp should be restricted and he ordered to immediate suspension of illegal sim cards as well as to issue arrest warrant against criminals.
The session was held in Karachi on Wednesday for public peace and was attended by the General Raheel Sharif, former President Asif Ali Zardari, PPP MPAs, MQM MPAs, Jamat-e Islami MPAs and other political leaders. During the meeting it has decided to continue targeted operations and to give free hand to the security agencies. The leaders assured their collaboration in the targeted operations in Karachi; however some leaders expressed reservations on targeted operations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered to make a committee for the supervision of operations. As the committee will consists of Governors, CM, DG Rangers, additional IG Karachi and officers of Intelligence agencies. Chief of Karachi police told that the crime rate will reduce by 50% if illegal sim cards and police officers are acting extensively against suspects as Prime Minister expressed concern on the late suspension of illegal sim cards. Relevant authorities were failed to give the answer of late suspension of illegal sims card.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been told that due to the law and order situation in Karachi, the Sindh government had previously sent an application to the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan requesting him to ban instant messaging phone applications including Skype, WhatsApp, Viber and Tango. As terrorist use these networks to communicate after the targeted operation was launched. It is necessary to ban these applications in order to get peace and amity in the country.
