WhatsApp will apparently charge its customers a small fee under the tag of subscription fee. Initially WhatsApp was launched as a free application which can be downloaded for free on any phone. But the users are only allowed to use it for free for the first year. For the next year they will charge their customers. This stance has been taken by WhatsApp in order to give its customers an advertisement free environment to chat with friends and family.
WhatsApp users abroad will have to pay USD 0.99 dollars per year. But rumours are about that this fee may not be applicable for Pakistan. In fact India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh may also be exempted from this fee as the system of online payment has yet not been developed. In the absence of a mode to receive payment from its Pakistani and Indian customers, people in these countries are still not used to the online payment method and refrain from using it, even if they are given the option. WhatsApp may not apply these charges on the users from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Well, WhatsApp will no longer be a free application, but its subscription fee will be justified if it keeps away from advertisements. While Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will get to enjoy it for free.
