What is WhatsApp Channels?
It is a private method to receive updates from individuals and organizations within WhatsApp conveniently. Channels serve as a one-way communication tool, allowing administrators to send text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls.
WhatsApp will soon provide a searchable directory to find the channels of your interest. Here, you can locate updates about your hobbies, sports teams, etc. Additionally, you can access a channel through invitation links shared by others.
You can find Channels in the “Updates” section. Here, you’ll discover Status updates and the channels you want to follow, all distinct from your regular chats with family, friends, and communities.
The privacy of administrators and followers is safeguarded. Phone numbers and profile pictures of channel admins will remain hidden from the followers.
Similarly, your phone number remains concealed from the admin and other followers when you follow a channel. The decision of whom to follow is entirely yours, and it remains a private matter.
Administrators have the authority to choose who can become followers of their channel and whether they wish to make their channel visible in the directory or keep it hidden.
However, because Channels aims to connect with a broad audience, it’s important to note that channels do not automatically employ end-to-end encryption for messages.
