Iraqi Forces & Militia along with USA air support are fighting in Mosul to retake it from militants. They are claiming to liberate the civilians from militants but in past few days more than 500 civilians were killed by USA air strikes.
The airstrikes were carried out on 17th march and it took more than a week for the coalition to accept that innocent civilians were killed. In one strike alone more than 200 civilians died, Al-Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid reported from Northern Iraq.
Mosul’s District Council Head Bassma Bassim said that more than 500 civilians have been killed on just one week. Explaining the seriousness of the killings he said “I have never met so many people with so many martyrs in their families.”
Former US Secretary Mark Kimmit said that such incidents happens in combat. He said that USA & Iraqi forces are trying the best to minimize the casualties, he also blamed militants for the people who were killed by USA raids.
It is being said that there are at least 600,000 civilians in the western half of Mosul where fighting is continuing.
