President Asif Zardari has announced civil awards for many PPP members and also on his close aides. Many questions have risen that what was the criteria adopted by PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to give away this prestigious honour to these PPP members.
The civil awards are announced every year on 14th Aug and awarded on the Pakistan Day i.e. 23rd March.
Cabinet Secretariat has issued the official list of 185 receivers of the civil awards on Pakistan’s Independence Day carries names of Interior Minister Rahman Malik, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek, National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, Secretary General to President Salman Faruqui have been nominated for ‘Nishan-i-Imtiaz’.
Pakistan Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, the chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme, Ms Farzana Raja, Baitul Maal’s chairman and former PPP MNA Zamarud Khan and President’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar have been nominated for ‘Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
Former adviser to Sindh chief minister Sharmila Faruqui, Muttahida Qaumi Movement MNA Khushbakht, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Director General Murtaza Solangi and Cabinet Division Secretary Nargis Sethi for ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz.’
President of Pakistan Hockey Federation and former Punjab PPP president Qasim Zia will receive “President’s Pride of Performance” award for his contribution to sports.
